We are both happy and sad to announce the retirement of respected local vet John Arnott. John has been an integral part of the practice for the last 43 years. Graduating from Glasgow University in 1975, John began his career at Crooks and Partners which later under his leadership became Lime Trees Vets. He soon settled in the area and met his wife, Janet, and together they raised a family. He now retires as senior partner and hands the reins over to Hywel Parry who has worked alongside him for the last 20 years.

Dr Parry told us “It is thanks to John that the practice is where it is today. He has achieved countless successes such as converting the former nurseries on Tean Road, Cheadle into ‘Lime Trees Veterinary Clinic’ in 2000. John was also the driving force behind the building of Lime Trees Veterinary Hospital in Meir Park – the first and only RCVS accredited Veterinary Hospital to have been built in Stoke on Trent opening in August 2011, which has now achieved 10th place in the nationwide Best UK Vets Award!

John has spent his career treating pets, farm animals, and horses. He is highly respected within the community and as a keen farm vet will certainly miss the joy of delivering a newborn calf – but maybe not the midnight calls in mid-winter!

John’s leadership will always be valued and remembered and his hard work, commitment, and dedication are worthy of admiration. He will be greatly missed. Filling John’s shoes will be an almost impossible task.”
